Share a ride and compare
Send a ride to another rider. They open it in RideHero, ride it with your ride drawn as a ghost line, and afterwards the two rides sit side by side.
Send a ride
- Open the ride: Menu > Past rides > All rides, tap the ride.
- Scroll to Share or export and tap SHARE WITH A RIDEHERO RIDER.
- The first time, RideHero asks for your name on shared rides - the other rider sees it. Your email address is never in the file.
- Pick the app to send it with: WhatsApp, email, anything on your phone.
Hide start and finish (500 m) leaves the first and last 500 m out of every copy you send, shared or exported - useful when a ride starts at home. Your own ride is not changed.
EXPORT GPX and EXPORT FIT send plain files any app or bike computer can open.
Receive a ride
Tap the file in WhatsApp, email or Files and choose RideHero. The ride lands in Menu > Past rides > Received, in a folder named after the rider who sent it. A ride file from another app, without a name in it, goes to From unknown. The name is the one written in the file.
Received rides never count in your totals, your year or your climbs - they are someone else's effort. Opening the same shared ride twice keeps one copy (plain GPX, FIT or TCX files from other apps are kept each time they are opened).
Folders
In Received, tap NEW FOLDER to make your own folders, inside other folders as deep as you like. On a received ride, MOVE puts it in a folder and RENAME changes its name. Deleting a folder that has rides in it asks where the rides should go.
Ride it
On a received ride, tap Ride this. The ride is drawn as a grey ghost line under your track the next time you ride. When you save that ride, it is linked to the received one.
Compare
On any ride, Compared with lists the rides it is linked to - tap one to compare: the time each of you took, average speed, and heart rate and power when both rides have them, over the road both rides share. COMPARE WITH... links any two rides yourself, your own or received.
Rides that share less than 1 km, or under a fifth of the ride, are not compared.
Backup and the dashboard
With backup on, received rides and your folders are backed up and shown on the dashboard under Received. They come back on a new phone like your own rides.
Questions
Can I send a ride to another rider?
Yes. On the ride page, Share or export, SHARE WITH A RIDEHERO RIDER sends it through WhatsApp or any app. They ride it as a ghost line and compare afterwards.
Do rides I receive count in my totals?
No. Received rides never count in your totals, your year or your climbs - they are someone else's effort.
