Bluetooth sensors

RideHero connects to standard Bluetooth heart-rate straps, speed and cadence sensors, and power meters. Pair them once in Menu > Sensors and they connect by themselves on every ride.

Pair a sensor

  1. Wake the sensor: wear the heart-rate strap, spin the wheel, or turn the cranks. Sensors sleep until they are used.
  2. Open Menu > Sensors and tap SCAN FOR SENSORS.
  3. The first time, Android asks to let RideHero use Nearby devices. Allow it; scanning starts by itself.
  4. RideHero looks for up to 20 seconds. Tap your sensor to ADD it. Two alike? Yours has the most signal bars.

Once a sensor is paired, a sensor page appears after your last page, with heart rate as the big number and cadence and power below it. You can also put heart rate, cadence or power on any page with the page builder.

Remove a sensor

In Menu > Sensors, hold FORGET on the sensor's card. Like ending a ride, it works on a hold so a glove brushing the card can't remove it.

When a sensor won't connect

  • Not found: it is probably asleep. Wear the strap, spin the wheel, turn the cranks, and scan again.
  • Paired to another app: close that app first. Many sensors talk to one app at a time.
  • "RideHero may not use nearby devices": open the phone's Settings > Apps > RideHero > Permissions and allow Nearby devices (Location on older phones), then come back and scan.
  • Bluetooth off: turn it on in the phone's quick settings.

Power without a power meter

With no power meter, RideHero estimates your power from your speed and the gradient, using your weight and your bike. It needs your weight: add it in Menu > You & your bikes. Put Est. power on a page with the page builder.

Questions

Which sensors does RideHero support?

Standard Bluetooth heart-rate straps, speed and cadence sensors, and power meters.

My sensor doesn't show up when I scan. What do I do?

Sensors sleep until they are used. Wear the heart-rate strap, spin the wheel or turn the cranks, then scan again. If another app is connected to the sensor, close that app first.

Do I need a power meter to see power?

No. Add your weight in Menu, You & your bikes, and RideHero estimates your power from your speed and the gradient.
