Import and export

RideHero can bring in your whole ride history from Strava or Garmin in one go, and export any ride as GPX or FIT.

Import rides

  1. Open Menu > Past rides > All rides and tap IMPORT RIDES.
  2. Pick a single GPX, FIT or TCX file - from a bike computer, another app or another phone.
  3. Or pick the ZIP file Strava or Garmin sends you when you ask for a copy of your data. Pick the ZIP as it is; there's no need to unpack it.
  • Each ride joins your history and totals under the type its file says (road, MTB...), or the type now selected.
  • Swims and other sports are left out.
  • Rides already in RideHero are skipped, so an import that stops halfway is finished by running it again.
  • A route file (with no times in it) is not a ride, so it isn't imported as one.

Export a ride

  1. Open the ride in Menu > Past rides > All rides.
  2. Scroll to Share or export.
  3. Tap EXPORT GPX or EXPORT FIT. Tick Hide start and finish (500 m) first to leave the first and last 500 m out. Android's share menu opens: save to Files or Drive, or send it to another app, email or WhatsApp.

GPX opens almost anywhere. FIT is the format bike computers record.

To send a ride to another rider so they can ride it and compare, see Share a ride and compare.

Questions

Can I import all my Strava rides at once?

Yes. Ask Strava for a copy of your data, then import the ZIP file it sends as it is - no need to unpack it.

Can I import from Garmin?

Yes. Import single FIT, GPX or TCX files, or the whole ZIP file Garmin sends when you ask for a copy of your data.

What happens if an import stops halfway?

Run it again. Rides already in RideHero are skipped, so the second run finishes the job.

Which file formats can RideHero export?

GPX, which opens almost anywhere, and FIT, the format bike computers record.
